One person cannot own another person. The guy should feel honored that the girl accepted the ring, not feel as though he is better than her. It is a ring, not a leash or a liscense.

I think that a ring means commitment, for example: a wedding ring. It also means that you want to wear this person's ring and be able to think about them when you see it. It serves as a reminder and bringer of happiness.

It is love, not ownership. Love is equal.

The ring is a symbol, and should be treated with respect. I don't think he owns you, but it does symbolize an eternal bond, and that does imply some kind of responsibility and loyalty. I would suggest you sit down with him and discuss what it means and requires.

If you mean an engagement ring, then yes. In a way you both own each other. It is a sign of indearment which shows everyone else that you are commited to each other and cannot be parted.

Not exactly. She ultimately decides how to live, but the ring keeps her from (hopefully) approaching or being approached by other guys. Personally, I would rather buy my own rings and have full control over my life.

nope. actually, when a gives a ring, he's actually asking for something. he doesn't own anybody even though he's given loads of rings. :) it's just an object to show his love but it's never going to be an object that marks a territory or possession. hope this helps. :)

I think a ring symbolizes a committed relationship between 2 people. Ownership has nothing to do with it.

No, no matter what kind of ring (engagement, friendship or otherwise). You can't "own" someone by giving them jewelry. It can demonstrate a higher level of commitment, which I hope is what is meant by "owning", but it doesn't mean you can control someone in what they do, think or feel by giving him or her a ring.

No, it's usually just a sign of appreciation/caring/love/etc. Plus she can always just take the ring off.

No guy can own you, no matter what he gives you. You're a human being, you can't be bought by objects or money. Any guy who thinks he owns you is just a jerk, and you shouldn't be with him.

he does not oen her. just cause he gave her the ring, doesn't mean she is his. by this logc, why not be the other way around?? just like a girl took the ring, she can give it back. taking a ring isn't saying "i am yours / ur slave.." it means "i love you, and will be by your side from thick to thin"
