I have pain on the middle of the outside of my foot. It's not in the arch area, but it's on the side of my foot. It began hurting the day after running 9 miles. It's not a consistent pain; it only hurts when I walk. I have a high arch. What could the pain be?

There is a muscle attachment in that area. You may have strained the muscle or tendon. Carefully stretch out the back and front of the lower leg and apply ice to the sore spot.
A stress fracture is possible, but not as likely because it would hurt all the time - at rest or while walking. Muscle generally hurts when in action, so it's probably that.

Hmmmm. I'd immediately think a stress fracture or maybe a sprain or something. Rest, Ice, Elevate (skip the compression if it's a fracture.) If the pain lasts for a few days and doesn't get any better, go to the doctor for X-rays and stuff. You might have to wear one of those boot things or a splint or something, some kind of cast.

Could be just foot pain. Call your Dr. if it doesn't go away in a couple days. Try putting heat or ice on it to help the pain.

See a doctor.

Anybody who runs 9 miles without knowing what effect it might have on them, deserves to pay for x-rays and a professional opinion. Pain free mobility is Important.
