It depends on what other symptoms go with it, and whether you are vomiting mostly blood, or vomiting food with some blood mixed in. If you are vomiting food with just a little blood, you should make an appointment to see the doc. within a few days. If you are vomiting mostly blood, go to the ER right away.

There is not enough information here to answer your question. Have you had recent nose bleeds? If so the blood is from that.

Otherwise you are having symptoms of a GI (gastrointestinal bleed). Is the blood bright red or coffee colored. If bright red, you may be having a larger, faster bleed and should probably go to the ER. If it is a smaller amount of brown material you could be having an ulcer.

Either way, you need to follow up with a doctor.

Vomiting blood means she needs to see a doctor, it could be serious. It could be from a number of things like for eg, a bleeding ulcer, esophagitis, gastritis, cirrhosis of the liver, as a result of purging too much, and more.

If it is fresh blood you may have a bleeding oesophagus (food pipe) If it is clotted blood dark colour it could be a bleeding ulcer. Frothy blood comes from the lungs as it is mixed with air. I any case medical diagnosis is required as it could be serious.

It can mean several things, from things that are meaningless to things that are quite severe. You need to go to a doctor as soon as possible--if not right away--to find out why there is blood in the vomitus.

It means you are sick. It could be anything from a minor irritation of the esophagus or stomach to food poisoning or cancer.

Edit: Don't you just love it when people neg all the answers except their own? Personally, I'd never want *my* "RN" to be so immature. For shame.

Go see a doctor so he can tell you. The people on Yahoo! Answers aren't exactly qualified physicians.
