First of all you need a good strightener (like everyone else said) I have thick hair and the Hot Tools Ceramic flat iron works great for me. It's about $40 at Ulta. It has settings so you can make it hotter or cooler depending on your hair type and what works for you. Like I said, my hair is thick too so I usually separate it into sections. I work from the bottom up...first I do the part below my ears, then the part from my ears to my brows, then the rest. I spray each section with hairspray as I am finished. Well, thats what works for me at least...good luck!

Couple of things you need. First is a good hair serum to prevent your hair from damage. I recommend Bed Head control Freak serum. Next you should have a good quality flat iron. If you purchase something that's high quality, you apply the heat and it straightens quickly so the heat goes away and leaves your hair less damaged than those awful 10 dollar straighteners that fry your hair because you take so long to straighten one piece of hair. I highly recommend Sedu, CHi, or GHD.

1)Blowdry it as straight and smooth as you can
2) Spary GHD heat protector spary evenly
3) start from the underneath of your hair use a comb and straighten small thin sections at a time with GHD's.
4) To make it really straight you cannot rush this process
5) add a little bit of serum to your hair (not to the roots as it can become greasy)
6) GO OUT AND SHOW IT OFF!
It works for me and i have the same hair type! also i would advise going to the hairdressers and cutting the weight out of your hair to make it less thick and easier 2 manage

Well if you alreday have straight hair... then you dont need expensive straighteners like GHD's, tey're not worth it ( they're for people hu basically have unstraightable hair) get a pair of babyliss/remington/nicky clarke/ treseme, etc, etc!!!
Then separate you hair with a clip & leave some hair at the bottom...straighten that & then take some more hair out of the clip& straighten that, etc, etc! It may take a while but gets ya hair really straight!!!!!

use a ceramic flat iron or something with a gold or ceramic plate, start at the root and go over the strands that your flat ironing a few times. you probably want to put a straighting product in your hair if its really thick. it's best to wash your hair then blow dry it straight then flat iron it.
I'm black and I have thick hair, and I straighten mine all the time along with my friends so this should work

Getting a straightening iron would help. It sounds like mabe a one from target or walmart would work well for your hair, Good luck!
And By the way you might want to buy some straightening gel or spray to prevent your hair from getting fried. =D

dont blow dry it as this makes it frizzy (leave it to dry naturally if you have the time)
clip most of your hair up leaving just a section down,, and take a little bit of hair from that section and straighten,, keep going until all your hair is done .. making sure you straighten as close as you can to the roots ( with out burning yourself ofcourse)
hope this helps x
