happy holidays!!

edits: you're so welcome...i attempted to send you a reply, but your addy isn't confirmed yet.
i raised my 3 kids totally alone...i was and still am, very interested in everything they have to say. we've learned so much from each other over the years. they all live within 1/2 a mile of me. we're still very close. they took me to see my fav. band, flogging molly for my birthday, and we rocked our sox off. lol. don't let anyone brush you off, you have a voice in this world and have every right to be heard. hang in there, and keep talking!!

Pick your reason. Adults have been on the Earth longer. Adults have life experience to back up what they are saying. Adults know that teens are that fabulous combination of "adult reasoning" and "child's impulse control". Adults have trouble seeing past the "child" in the growing teen. I'm not saying these reasons are right or wrong, but as parents and adults we have to be carers and protectors first.

If it's any consolation, it took me until I was 23 for things to settle down with my father - and that was a result of a barney because I told him to f*** off...

I think it's because most of the time we're only caring about US. If you wanna be heard by your parents, you gotta work with them-you can't just cut them off when they're talking and start yelling at them or giving them attitude or whining just b/c you can't have what you want.
I think adults will hear out teens/kids if they're somewhat respectful and work with them instead of thinking about themselves. It's hard but if you wanna get heard you gotta be that way--or else adults really won't care to know what you have to say.

depends on the topic and what they are saying; with age comes wisdom ; you don't know everything yet; give some props to them for living longer than you; they know what they are talking about.
