Revo- In all honesty I work for a vet and that is what you should do. Go to a 24hr er care hosp. as if if is really broke. YOU NEED pain meds for your dog and also it will need to be x-rayed and set.As you would need medical attention so does your dog. It is darn right painful. Isn't a vet a logical place to get to asap.??

I am not seeking attention! I care about animals and asking for ideas on this site is not the way to go. What if someone gave you the wrong idea? Then your dog would suffer and be in pain. I know you say the vets are closed. I understand that. But, surely if you look in your yellow pages you can find a vet who does emergency calls? Or has a mobile vet hospital for such emergencies. Good luck and I hope you can get help!

First of all- do NOT give aspirin to a dog- it thins its blood. If it goes into surgery then it will bleed a LOT more.
If your dog has a broken leg it needs to go to a vet. I'm not saying that to "get attention", I'm telling you this because it is the truth. Only a vet can evaluate a fracture and decide on a treatment.

Telling you to go to the vet isn't trying to get attention. What a moronic statement.
Your dog needs to go to the vet. If all the normal vets are closed, find a 24 hour vet ASAP. If the leg is broken, your dog is in severe pain and it's cruel, not to mention illegal, to refuse your dog vet care. You cannot treat a broken leg at home. You need a professional ASAP.

splint the dog's leg, and crate the dog so that it can't move around much. Check it's paw periodically to make sure it is still warm, and wait out the night until the vets open. Baby Aspirin can help with the pain.
If the paw gets cold, call the after hours emergency vet line, because it means the break is cutting off blood flow, and the dog may lose its leg.
Best of luck!

Keep your dog in a small refined space, crate, bathroom.
You can make a splint with a straight piece of wood and wrap it carefully around leg.Not too tight it mught cut off the circulation.
If you have Bufferin or an enteric coated aspirin he can have that, not tylonel. And if possible ice the leg alot to relieve pain and sweeling.
Just out of curiosity,Isnt there an emergency vet service in your area. How about horse vet they're always on call

The truth is if you think your dogs leg is broken you need to find veterinary care for him. Call your vets office and see what they offer as far as emergency visits, it that isn't possible, I would call around to other animals hospitals in your surrounding area until you find a vet that takes emergencies.

first of all you need to make the dog comforatable, then take and make a splint out of two pieces of wood so the dog cant move it. once you have secured the leg, give the dog 1/4 of an anti inflamatory pill such as motrin. DONT GIVE MORE THAN 1/4!!!!!!
first thing in the morning bring the dog to the vet. good luck

Sorry, but VET VET VET. No one telling you that is doing that for attention they are telling you that because they care about the health of your dog.
In towns with no emergency vet clinic, veterinarians ARE ON CALL. Call the vet asap, there is nothing you can do at home.

an alternative to the vet may be the humane shelter...you know....animal control people...no i'm not telling you to put him to sleep...but they may be able to help.
I would not necessarily rub or massage the dog because you don't know how the leg is broken and don't want to do more damage. Keep the dog warm and as comfortable as possible using blankets and such.
Best of luck to your doggie...
