I have a 3 year old mini schnauzer and she was bitten by a tick a little while ago. I noticed when I pulled it off I noticed that infamous bulls-eye that they give off. It was like a flat bump maybe the size of a dime with a dark red ring around it with an almost whitish center. I was wondering if this is a definite sign of Lyme disease, and when I should get the dog tested. If I bring her in tomorrow will it be to early and it might come up negative? I really want to try and get it cured as soon as I can so there won't be any bad affects on her.

When you pulled the tick are you sure it was a deer tick and not a common dog tick or one of the many other types of ticks?
Deer ticks are really the only one you need to worry about and many people worry about ticks but have never even seen a deer tick.
I find them once and awhile on our horses but have never seen one on any of our dogs.
Ask your vet about giving the shot for Lyme disease of it is common in your area.

I don't have a big problem with ticks, but Revolution is supposed to kill them within an hour. Only problem is that it sounds like they have invaded your house and started laying eggs. You might have to check with Petco or Petsmart to see if they have a relatively safe flea/tick bomb you can use in your house. If not, a professional exterminator maybe in order. When we bought our last home, it was badly infested with fleas from the previous owner and we used two different flea bombs which finally did the trick. Since we spray outside every year for fleas/ticks, we haven't had a problem since. Good luck!

I brought my dog in for the same reason (this friday to be exact), but, unless there is pain in their joints, or a fever, it's not likely to be lyme disease. The vet felt that testing without any ill signs was quite pointless.

She's probably fine, but should see the vet anyway.

If Lyme disease is a concern in your area, there's a vaccine for it. It's worth it not to have to worry about it. :)

Take her to the vet, he/she will know whether or not it's too early to test the dog.

I would definitely get to the Veterinarian as soon as possible and they should be able to tell you all about it and get you some help.
