You got yourself a lucky break. It shouldn't affect your insurance. Hopefully you thanked the officer for doing you the favor...you got off easy.

I am with Leigh on this one. Lesson learned for being an MSU fan. It should be a point on your license and the same fine in most parts as if you were doing 6-10 over.

Don't listen to Andy. If you go in and fight the ticket telling them you were not going 5 over you are could actually have the officer amend the citation to the original amount of 40 in a 25. That could be an extra fifty bucks and several more points on the license.

Pay the fine for 5 over and be done with it.

of course they could because you received one. they have cameras now the position they're going to take a image of you motor vehicle and deliver you a cost ticket interior the mail. you do not even might want to be utilizing the vehicle on the time the picture replaced into taken. in case you enable some different person force you nonetheless receive the cost ticket interior the mail. why would you bypass fifty 5 in a 40 5 on the tail of a cop?

Go to court, ask for traffic school. That's the only way to avoid points. You get points for every moving violation, even if you were just 1 mph over the speed limit. Going to traffic school will get the ticket dismissed.
You must have had a good attitude, because you were given a nice break.

You got lucky. 15 over is reckless driving/5 over is just speeding and there is a big difference in the way insurance looks at it. Your rates shouldn't change unless this is like your 5th ticket

So he cut you a break? I'd pay it and be done with it. You'll probably get a point and it may affect your insurance but that's what you get for going to a Michigan State game!!! LOL GO BLUE

don't know about the points system in mi, but some cops reduce the tickets because then people are less likely to contest the ticket in court because they already got a break. Be thankfull and pay that sucker.

I hope you had the courtesy to thank him. Yes, it will go on your record and will probably affect your insurance rates, but not as much as 15 mph over the limit would have.

DUDE SWEEEEET
if you were actually doing 40, then plead not guilty. and theyll set a court date and be like your honor i wasnt going 30-35 mph, i was doing 40, and thats not what this ticket is for. and he'll b like yup ur right. and then u win. but then if the cop is like yea well then you were doing a 40 in a 25 now u get a bigger ticket. so u go back to court for that and b like "***** wheres your proof?" and he'll say "well...you just admitted in that other court. and b like so??im not guilty cause u aint got other proof. this is a he said/she said case. i win
