Ted Haggard is the worst kind of SocioPath. Hypocrites are the main reason Organized Religion is losing its affect. I stopped going to church over ten years ago, but maintain a relationship with God through other means (demeanor, behavior, and prayer).

The members of his church seem so Passionate and Devote. He appeared passionate and devote, but ALAS! is really a man who is married to a women, had a homosexual relationship with another man, and did illegal drugs (yes, I know...allegedly did illegal drugs). Futhermore he crushed the spirits of his congregation and dismanteld his family with his lies. Can you imagine how his teenage daughters feel going to school now?

I feel he should be more accountable. Yes, God is the one who makes the final judgement, but this kind of betrayal on such a Grand Scale seems to warrant some sort of earthly punishment.

But what?

It is always sad when someone falls. And leaders always fall the hardest. I was told when I was in training to be a deacon at my church that "the mantle of leadership has a bulls-eye sown on the back of it".

I agree that he should be held accountable for the consequences of his actions. I assume he will be prosecuted for the drug use. I do not know what the rules are in his denomination, but in mine (Presbyterian Church in America) he would be expelled from his post as a pastor. He may be able to go back to pastoring, but only after close and careful examination that would include a look into the areas that caused him to fall in the first place and go through several rounds of examination by the presbytery akin to redoing his ordination exam.

Other than that, I wish him well.

First of all, what happened to the part of the bible that talks about Christ being the head and the church being the body? You are not part of the body but yet still claim the head? That makes no sense.

Second, suffering and struggle is a part of Christianity. In fact, it is the meek that are rewarded.

Third, since when are Christians supposed to be influenced by the secular world?

Fourth, are you sinless because maybe you should be punished.

Fifth, sins against the body are the most grievous sins so you are right that it is a worse sin but he is willing to repent so now we have to forgive him. And, even though he sinned we have to love him!!

He should never again be in a position of leadership in any church. The man probably did a world of good for many people but he fell from grace and according to the principles in first Timothy he cannot be a leader in the church. Leaders are to be above reproach. His sin did great damage to his ministry and his church. It was very unfortunate, a severe lapse in judgement but only God knows his heart and will deal with him accordingly. His public disgrace to a man of his ego is significant punishment in this life and God will make the decision as to the ultimate disposition of his soul. We need to be wary of wolves in sheeps clothing. They lurk everywhere.

What could be scarrier than knowing someday you will be held accountable to God? It even says in the Bible that our leaders (meaning Christian leaders) will held even more accountable than just the normal guy. I would be scared if I were him. What he did is HUGE to God in my opinion and I truly believe he will pay for it. As far as hypocrites - I agree with you there are far too many and they do give religion a bad, bad name.

He got exposed for what he is, humiliated and fired from a comfortable living. He destroyed his credibility and damaged the credibility of his church and all Christian churches. Yeah, he's getting punished.

You think maybe they should crucify him?
