Why is it that people in the UK think that people whom claim benefits are somehow taking something away from them personally . Wouldnt you still have to pay all the taxes etc .Even if there wasnt a benefit system in place .?

I say thank the government for allowing these people to choose not to work . Why not ! If you dont have to work then why would you , you still get paid , get a house , rent paid all that stuff . Also if you choose you get youre college course paid for aswell so when you do feel like it then you can get a better job than all those who were working all along

Because they are ignorant to anything other than themselves and their circumstances. Parents, grandparents and great grandparents have probably paid their dues for those that are on benefits to more than justify claiming. Assuming that everyone on benefit is lazy etc, is just a pure lack of intelligence and total ignorance. Ignore them, they know no better.

People moan about everything. Something different from the weather isn't it. People falsely claiming them wind me up though. But I do have a friend that had a lung that collapsed and depression and people are always talking about her like she's scum because of the benefits. She just passed her teacher training course with destinction too. As for people who can't work because they have 7 kids or what ever, that wids me up too. Lizzy Bardsley had around £30,000 in benefits someone told me. But there has to be benefits for some deserving people.
Can you tell us the reason why you can't work? Not being arguementative but perhaps your reason would stop people complaining.
Well the last piece of info you put in just made you look like a complete ars3hole! Obviously you are one of the people sitting on their backsides all day.!

We would still have to pay them, but they would either be a lot less, or else would be put to better use. i.e. improving the NHS, street repairs, decent pension schemes etc.
And yes people are taking things away from me, I have paid taxes for 23 years, and know people who have been on the social for the same length of time because "It's not worth my while getting a job". Why the hell should I be funding their layabout life style. These are the same people who go to the GP's for free paracetemol even thought they only cost 16p in the supermarket, complain when they do not get an interest free loan for a new settee from the council. Claim compensation for disruption when they got a new bathroom suite (of their choice), double glazing, central heating and a new fitted kitchen.
My kitchen cost me 3k, bathroom 4k, double glazing 12k, and I had to remortgage for that.
P.S. I know there are a lot of genuine claimants out there, but I also know a hell of a lot personally who thinks that everything is "owed" to them, trouble is they seem to be right MATE.

just to clarify my situation before i comment. i am a single parent taking care of my disabled child and mother, obviously I'm claiming for the moment but hopefully will be working again within the next two years.
i agree that its unfair that lazy b******s are claiming. not so that more can be filtered into the benefits system but maybe put into the nhs where its needed. all tax payers have a right to be as angry as they are. just wish the government would do something to force them to work.

The simple reason is though there are those who NEED benefits there are many who CHOOSE not to work. This takes tax money away from the areas that need it, like hospitals, schools and looking after the countries infrastructure.
Those who choose not to work and sit on their backside claiming benefits when they could be out contributing to society are, to my mind, lazy and selfish.

They don't bother me, I will pay the same taxes if they did or didn't so who cares, however.....
A lot of the time you get people here working for cash in hand jobs and still claim to be unemployed for extra money, if you don't think that's rude then what is?

i think the problem is when people abuse the benefit system - it's important that it is there as a safety net but it can be abused by people who just don't want to work.
on the other side, there are people who want support in retraining and can't get help til they've been unemployed for six months. there's frustration all round.
taxes will always be there unless we have anarchy

Of course you'd still have to pay taxes............
But the less spent on skiving lazy people sitting on their arses collecting benefits means more money can be spent on Schools, Hospitals.......etc......etc............. Dumb^ss!
People who legitimately can't work for whatever reason can have benefits and help all they want. But not the lazy people who should be working but can't be arsed 'cos they know they can get away with doing nothing and still get paid.
