There is no difference between Catholic and Roman Catholic (chances are you already are one) unless you belong to a seperate "order" such as Byzantine. However, if you switch from Byzantine to Roman Catholic, it isn't an upgrade... they're equal.

The term catholic is an American who sends money to Rome. In America, about a billion dollars annually is sent to the Roman Catholic Church. The Roman Catholic donations for Katrina totaled $27, 214.16. (Figure from the Congressional Oversight Committee). The Roman Catholics use backwards thoughts of “it is better to receive from America than help America. If you upgrade, you will get the hell out of the demonic Catholic Church. Then you can be a normal Protestant who sets off Roman candles of the Fourth of July, saying God bless America.
With love in Christ.

The Catholic Church has consistently referred to itself as the “Catholic Church” at least since 107 AD, when the term appears in the writings of St. Ignatius of Antioch
The term "Roman" Catholic is rather recent.
The new Anglican Church in England started using the term “Roman” in the 1500s as one of many ways of demeaning and demonizing Catholics.
Catholics accepted this late coming adjective without too much protest. Today “Catholic” and “Roman Catholic” are interchangeable terms. Both terms are even used in the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
The term “Roman” neither increases nor decreases the faith, hope and love of the Catholic Church.
With love in Christ.

Who says that is an upgrade?
The Catholic Church has had a very poor history of fully teaching their flock about the Trinity. So many Catholics seem clueless about just some of the basic concepts regarding God. Because it's only been recent years that the service stopped being conducted only in Latin, and now the Catholic Church allows it's parishioners to read the Bible for themselves, and that been a very progressive thing. Now, Catholics are understanding Christianity and what it really means.
If you want to be closer to God, just pick up your Bible, read, and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you and show you the Truth. You will benefit greatly.

Is a Roman Catholic an upgrate from an Eastern Orthodox Catholic?
I think you need to do some history research and figure out why you are Catholic in the first place.

Are you baptised and confirmed in the Church? I don't think there's a difference - you're either Roman Catholic or you're not. Double check this anyway to make sure.

There is no difference. Roman Catholic is just the formal way of saying it.

You are either saved or lost. What you seek is not an upgrade. But a religious desire.
