i am getting surgery, both feet will be in casts what if i am on my period and want to wear a tampon? i cant really get up and do that, also with pads i still cant really get up to change that ether. Would they put me in a diaper or would they change a pad for me? How would i tell the nurse encharge of me that i am on my period.

your care givers will provide you with sanitary pads
they will be large like maternity pads
also ask for paper bags to dispose of them
sorry no tampons allowed
many people change pads in bed you do not have to get up
you wont get diapers and you can change your own pad
you can tell her just by asking her for the pads and disposal bags
your not the only person in the world to be in a hospital with your period
and the nursing staff is well aware of patient needs

good grief, it's your feet they are operating on, not your hands, there is no earthly reason why you could not change a pad or tampon while in bed. Just ask the nurse to bring you something to dispose of the used pad or napkin in.

Just like having a baby.. no tampons allowed.. it is a HUGE pad.. hahahaa... actually with surgery you might get away with tampons, but who is going to change them? As long as you can reach, there should be no problem...
