Being that you ask this question on a religion and spirituality site, then you maybe fishing for its implication on the religion and spirituality scene. I will answer your question with that in mind.

If evolution were proven without a doubt, it would NOT change the tenets of faith in Christianity and any other religion. Evolution can only prove the "how" of creation. The "how" of creation is not the concern of anyone's theology no matter their religion. Their's is the "why" of creation. Therefore, such an evolutionary victory would not change or disprove religion or its faith. In fact it may give voice to prove what faith has been trying to say all along, but did not have the language for until then.
May the Lord bless and keep you. May He let the light of His face shine upon you.

God's and your beast of burden

It would have to be replaced by a more accurate theory that did a better job making predictions and describing the speciation process. There would be no reason to be sad, but instead joy at the expansion of knowledge.

This joy, however, seems to have eluded those who believe in creationism and intelligent design, when their theory has been proven false.

Everyone has their theories. It all depends on who you believe, men in robes or men in labcoats. I don't necessarily trust either one 100%.

It is more likely that evolution will prove true and creationism false.

Since it already has been proved, your question is moot.
