I think that our culture has made sex into more of a hobby then something that should only be enjoyed within the sanctity of a marriage. Being abstinent seems to a lot of people as out dated and old fashion.

I think that it shows a huge amount of self control. Not only are you going to be clean (STD's) and child free, but you are going to be able to give the best gift to your future spouse.

What people don't seem to understand is that when you have sex outside of marriage, you always have those memories! & If you and your spouse are both abstinant, you can learn together and figure out what the two of you like. If you have already been with someone, you kind of cheat yourself of that experience.

I certainly don't think that there's anything wrong with it. But to answer your question, I think that many people, especially younger people, want you to be just like them, and make the same choices as them, even if they are bad choices. It's no different then all your friends in school drinking or smoking pot and saying that you're a looser for not doing the same, even though many of them actually wish they never tried the stuff to begin with. So a lot of this is just stupid peer pressure. Another thing to note is that most people think about sex many times a day and when you say you want to not have sex until marriage, or not at all, then they think you're weird for not thinking about sex. When in reality, you probably think about sex too, you just have the self-control to not let it rule your life.

So I say, as long as this is something you feel is the right thing to do, go on with your lifestyle and be patient with the people who don't understand. Our culture is too sexed out and many people are totally addicted to sex, so they may never understand your choice, and that's OK.

Indeed you do.

But, as has often been said, celibacy and abstinence leave a lot to be desired. Our society often pushes celibacy and absinance on us, whether or not it's appropriate for us.

And, long term, celibacy and abstinence are incompatible with true love and happiness.

There's nothing wrong with it.Its a way of life for many people. Not everyone needs to have sex to be happy or need a relationship to fulfill there desires. Its all in how you look at yourself and what makes you happy.

Some people are with people only for sex, and to get it from these people, isn't easy. Not everyone thinks this is so bad.

Well, good for you. Most of us have higher sex drives than you do. I abstain from love, but not from sex. (it's best to have a FwB if you're like me — really, it's not slutty.)
