This depends entirely on your gender, age, and body fat percentage.
For your height, 142lbs is at the highest end of average/acceptable... not the "ideal" weight, but if you have a more muscular build or a larger frame then it can be a perfectly fine weight for your height.
With age, people naturally gain weight. If you're a young teenager, 14 or so, then yes, you should work on you're weight before it gets out of control.
For an older teen or college age individual... you're on the middle ground. It wouldn't hurt to drop a few pounds, but you're acceptable in my opinion.
mid-late 20's and older... then I'd say you're in a fine spot, physically.
Body fat percentage is a more accurate reflection of your need to loose weight or not, though. Most gyms will perform the test for free.

The doctor's chart would probably say yes...but I say definitely NO. You aren't built like a supermodel, neither am I. I'm 5'4 and 140 lbs (not in that picture of course), and I'm not overweight. I would try not to gain too much, but right now you sound healthy. I eat *extremely* well, and practice Bikram Yoga regularly (90 minutes of yoga in 105 degree, 40% humidity room). My body simply will not get smaller, but the Dr. would tell me I'm overweight according to some chart. These charts cannot account for body type. Everyone is built differently. Unless you've got a *really* tiny frame, you've got nothing to worry about.

I think your on the edge. right between normal weight and overweight. If your a kid then your still growing and it's fine. Gaining more wait would make your overweight though, except Nutrition is more important, and it's not like your obease.

According to a website that I googled, you are slightly overweight. It says that the maximum healthy weight for a person of your height would be 140.62 pounds. I'm not sure how legitimate this site is but I will provide a link.

u r a little over weight but changing ur diet to leave out starches, potatoes, bread, etc and sugar, soda, icecream, cake, etc. and getting a exercise program even if it is something as simple as dancing in ur living room, and the weight will b gone in no time and will stay off if u keep up the good eating habits.

No, not really. And it has to do with more than just your height. Are you small, medium or large boned--heavy frames weigh more. Are you large chested? That can add weight too. Are you very athletic or muscular--muscle is heavier than fat. Don't worry so much.
