If you intended to mean "Christians" who are at fault, then I would have to disagree. As Catholics we always teach a love for education. It is in education that one can learn to think and speak about the mysteries of life rationally. And so, it cannot be the fault of Christianity. Yet, secualr runned schools also promote a love for education. And so, it cannot be the secular runned schools fault either. Hmmmm...who's fault could it be then? Could it be the one who desires no education, finds no value or love for it?
However, this is a very small percentage. Most are unable to have a decent education due to unjust distribution of a nation's wealth (are not teachers the lowest pay profession?). Another factor is our nation's occupation with consumerism to where we educate the young to be producers and consumers instead of lovers of wisdom. There are other factors. And so, I guess the answer to this cannot be reduced to simple finger pointing as your question suggests. Mayhap you should give it more thought before you write if you want an informed answer. As it is we can only deny that Christianity is the problem. We deny that it is the government or secular educational system. It maybe as Shakespere wrote in Julius Caesar, "The fault is not in our stars, Brutus; but in ourselves."
May the Lord bless and keep you. May He let the light of His face shine upon.

Nope, that's the governments fault. They fully realize that the dumber the average Amerikan is, the easier they are to influence an control using soundbites, and idiot commercials.

It's all about information flow, and mind control. Who controls the information, controls the mind. The less educated the person, the easier they are to influence, the more they're trained to mindlessly obey, the easier to control.

The dumbing down of Amerika has been going on for years, and it's not the Xians, or Fundies fault, but it's just Uncle Sam, making sure the sheep stay sheep.

It is possible that since people are disobeying God, that the USA is relatively low on the education scale. (I presently want to refresh my memory of how low on the scale). Perhaps the disobedience also explains why the USA is the beast in Rev. 17.

Absolutely. It is sad that, what was once clearly the greatest nation on earth, is being held back by middle age wisdom while European countries are keeping up with reality.

no, that would be the tax payers, and the government run school system. People vote down school funding bills and pay public school teachers a truly sad wage (many start below the poverty line for median income)
