I owe my parents $1250 and my dad has been joking about wanting it now. I actually have the money to pay him back so I was thinking about going to the bank and getting 1250 one dollar bills and wrapping them in a box for Chrismas. 1. Is this a stupid idea? 2. Should the bank have that many one dollar bills?

I think it would be halarious, but...if your dad is like my dad he would count every dollar...and After the 100th dollar bill...i think he'd probably be pissed off as hell!!
Why don't you go to the dollar store and get 1250 worth of fake money...wrap that up and add a card saying "here's the money i owe you!" Then later that night give him the real money in 100 dollar bills!!
Good luck

I'm sure he's not "joking" about wanting it back.
And I think it's a very bad idea. If you owe the money, it's not a gift.
Yes the bank would have it but if I were your parent, I would not appreciate it at all. I may even take your Christmas present back to the store.

It kind of is because you owe them the money and you shouldn't give it to them as a Christmas Present. Also I don't think they will have 1250 one dollar bills. But they can get it but they might think it is strang to try and get them all in dollar bills. So don't give it to them in dollar bills and don't give it to them for Christmas.

GO ahead and pay him- and give him a Christmas gift on top of that-- it would be a pain in the butt to count out 1250 dollars- ugh!!
The band shoud have ones on 100 dollar bundles- have fun and Merry Christmas-D

First, it is a bad idea and would be a slap in the face to your dad. Why would you want to pay him back in $1 bills? As far as the bank having $! bills, I am sure if you wanted it all in that denomination they would oblige you. However, I think they would want to know the reason why.

1. That is a very cute idea.
2. I would either try 5's. or 10's. or 20's. Or a combination because i dont think the bank will let you have that many singles.

Yes, it is a dumb idea. I think you have to recognise the importance of taking care of ANY kind of business transaction in a serious and responsible manner. The fact that it is your parents doesn't matter. It's a significant amount of money we are talking about here, and should not be the focus of some silly kind of "joking behavour" Show your parents that you do take it seriously, and conclude the business in a businesslike way.

1... that would be a pretty cheesy gift, but it would be funny

2... the bank should have that many one dollar bills... some form of coins would be funnier though because he wouldn't be able to figure out what it was by the weight

I paid for a car like that because they were hassling me they wanted CASH and they wanted it NOW! Yeah, do it! It'll be a hoot! They can always change for larger bills. Call the bank first to see if they will have it on hand.

Personally, I think it's a wonderful idea. Any bank will have the money, just don't get robbed on the way home.
