Would you hire a nanny or babysitter without meeting and interviewing several?
Would you buy a car without test-driving a few different ones?
If you owned your own business, would you hire an employee without interviewing them first?
Would you buy a stock without comparing it to others?
If you did these things, would it not be considered unwise or irresponsible?
How did you chose your religion?

> What else has stood the test of time for over 2000 years that you would not trust?
Can you show me a version of the bible that has NOT changed several times within the past 2000 years? Should I simply have faith that the changes King James decided to make were consistent with god's original intent?

So, by your rationale, I should hurry up and hire a babysitter without doing any sort of research or background checks to care for my children because time is running out? If I make the wrong decision, my kids may be kidnapped or raped or abused or killed...
What happens if I choose the wrong religion?

I wake up every morning, purely based on the faith that I will do so.
As for the rest, nope - research.

I didn't chose to be Catholic, my parents did. I am not practicing the religion now, and that is my educated choice. I use faith to make judgments in my job and my life all the time.
I have hired without an interview. I have bought stock without comparing it to other stocks. Faith has a part in our lives outside of religion.
Faith is more trust than anything. I have faith in my bank that my money will be there, but I don't research other banks to see how reliable they are.

Your question on faith alone, even with your examples express your misunderstanding of what faith is. Faith is a substance, enthusiasm is an emotion and being optimistic is an attitude. What you believe, regardless of what it is, becomes faith when you act on it. We all make our choices in life based on what we believe whether we have defined our "beliefs" or not. Faith is acting on what you believe to be true and is not yet seen. In your examples there is no exercising of faith based on what you believe rather you have given examples of exercising the power of choice through knowledge and understanding. An example of believing in that which is not seen and acting on it does not fit your examples.
I did not pursue religion or choose an idea, concept or belief system that sounded good to me.
I went in pursuit of God and the truth without any pre-conceived ideas or results. All I wanted was the truth and did not really care what it was as long as it was the truth. This truth about God had to be verifiable and able to stand independent of an idea, concept or belief system. This was so that I could never doubt the truth, whatever I discovered it to be. My results were that God revealed Himself to me in many real and tangible ways. Today, I not only know about God I know him personally and He knows me. Have you considered a quest like this for your self?

I don't have a "religion." Many people think that Christianity is a religion, however it is not. It is a relationship with the living God. Huge difference.
Religion is man's way of trying reaching God.
Relationship is God's way of reaching us through Jesus Christ.
I've walked the secular life...and I know what I was missing when I was. It was Jesus in my life. Now that He's back...I wouldn't trade it for anything.
I have a peace and comfort I had never know. Not to mention, I'm forgiven and get to spend eternity with Him. WOW!

I would base it on the word of God, the Bible, an inspired book that is over 2000 years old and has not been proven wrong or contraditory.
What else has stood the test of time for over 2000 years that you would not trust?

your question is, "am i capable of being stupid"? let me see. yes! now let me ask you. are you willing to throw your life away. "i don't mind going to hell all my friends are going to be there and we're gonna have a big party? what you need to do is put some heavy thot into what you've asked. and you need to come to a dicision quickly because tomorrow is not guaranteed. is that worth taking a step of faith for?

I was born into my religion, but I am open to others too. I am familiar with many and I think this has helped me come closer to G-d.

I decided I needed my sins to be forgiven. Jesus is the only one who gave his life up for our sins.
