If, after you die, you are offered an opportunity to continue the journey and have eternal life because of the good life you've lived up 'til then?

How much clearer can I be? You've died, separated from your material body, but somehow find you still exist. You are told you can exist forever and move through the universe learning all sorts of new stuff. Would you say "yes" or "no".

I would be very surprised but yes of course I would elect to continue. I do lead a good life now and intend to keep doing so. Atheists are not bad people just because they don't believe in a God. In fact if, I believed in hell, I know of a lot of religious people who deserve to go there right now.

no.....well it depends.
If this "continued journey" was in an actual paradise and was what people can sometimes paint heaven to be then sure! But I just don't believe that is the case. If I am required to remove myself from common logic and must take great leaps of faith that require me to believe in the supernatural without being shown evidence OF the supernatural, then no I can't do that.

But who doesn't like the sound of Heaven? People like the sound of heaven, and people dislike the sound of hell. That is why there are so many religious people in the first place. Religion answers questions for people that nothing else can. The biggest difference between the religious and the non religious is that after being told about heaven and hell, a disbeliever will say, "prove it", and then not believe because no one can prove it. A believer will say, "That sounds great, I'm in", but not require any further proof. I am not saying this is a fault, but non believers are obviously more tied to reality, logic, and their own senses than believers.

No. The last thing I want is "eternal life". The thought of existing forever and doing one thing, or being in one place, for all of eternity is legitimately frightening to me. I would go insane, and so would everyone else. I'd rather have it end altogether when I die; eternal nothing, to me, is a lot better than eternal something.

In all seriousness, would depend fully on the manner of my death, how I will be in the afterlife, etc.

For you see, I've read too many zombie novels, read too many things about how wishes should just not be made because they always get twisted to truly trust the scenario you've set up.

Details, details - so important.

But thank you for realizing that Atheists can and are good people too, who lead good lives.

Does that eternal life involve lying face down in front of the Throne of God...worshiping him all day long?

I think I'd rather go for reincarnation and come back to the earthly pleasures.

The soul moves from body to body, there is only one soul and no heaven or hell, only good and bad.

What is the rest of this hypothetical question? I find nothing in it so far to answer.

Usually an "if" statement has a "then" attached to it. Were you quite finished with that one?

Yeah, sure, why the hell not. Is it a tricky question or something?
