Lemon juice only lightens hair when it is exposed to the sun. Ultraviolet light and lemon juice can become a bleaching agent.

However, if you are impatient, PLEASE do not use Sun-in, ever. It is absolutely terrible for your hair and has actual bleach in it, which is part of why it works so fast. No stylist will ever touch your hair if it has had Sun-in in it!

Ahem, anyway. Just go out in the sun and keep putting the juice in for a week or two, you should see results. :)

I don't know about squeezing lemons. I know that if you pour lemon juice on your hair in the summer while you are sitting out in the sun for several hours it will lighten your hair. Only Sun-In sprayed on your hair and then blowdried will lighten it for the short term.

okay really using lemons is not the greatest idea. It takes a very long time for it to lighten your hair. It lightens your hair because it is a mild acid.

If you use lemons long enough to really lighten your hair the acid in the lemons will damage your hair. I once ruined my hair using a dandruff shampoo with salicylic acid in it. Once you damage your hair with an acid it takes a long time to repair it.

Why don't you get a one of the mild products made to lighten you hair? They have conditioners in them and come with conditioners to help prevent damage to your hair.

I know that if you sit out in the sun with lemon juice in your hair it will lighten but if you only blowdry it will take longer.

Yes but not right away. The lemon juice will lighten your hair over time. it will happen more quickly if your hair is exposed to the sunshine.

you should go out in the sun for a few hours after applying the lemon juice to your hair. i think that would work better than blowdrying.

If you go in the sun it will be faster, be careful not to dry your hair out with the lemons!
