Do people who have Borderline Personality Disorder know that they lie?

I am convinced that my ex-wife has BPD. One of the many things she does besides yelling like crazy causing chaos with our children etc..is her unbelievable lie's she tells. Lie's that with a little checking out become apparent she lied. She has accussed me of all types of physical abuse and even accussed our daughter of being a drug dealer and a lesbian. I know that one of the symtoms of BPD is lying (outragous lie's) I could go on and on but my questions is??


Do people who suffer from BPD know that they are lying??

hmm that is funny i have BPD and didnt know i lie. Heck i make sure i dont lie in my life because i cant remember what the lie would be so i am basically truthfull to a fault so please dont generalize everyone with BPD are liars.

yes it is common for some people with borderline personality to lie. they feel their life becomes so unbearable they have to resort to lies to make them feel better about themselves. a lot of women who are borderline personality, have quite often been sexually abused at a young age. they are very difficult and demanding to live with, they strike out at loved ones, because they find their life very difficult. usually psychotherapy helps this type of person. sometime they do not realize they are lying.

I have BDP and I don't tell outrageous lies. I admit I tell white lies sometimes, but for the most part, I'm a truthful person.

yes, at least i do.like u said, the lies r SOOOO outragous,i can't believe i'm saying them.and afterwards,i sit & i think 2 myself, Y do i do this??but i just brush it away like it never happened. go figure.
