If you want these animals to suffer then die, you'll put them back to the wild after spending years being fed in the zoo.
I'lll say the mortality rate of animals in the zoo is lower than the wild.

Actually, that would be very very bad for them. they would likely die rather quickly. You see, most animals you see in the zoos have been bred in zoos; very few wild captures these days.
So, they've never learned to hunt, never learned about natural predators, may not be able to find food on their own, and could easily succumb to disease wild animals have immunity to.
Best for a zoo animal is to live a full and healthy life in their zoos. It's already much to late for them to be a truly wild animal again.

Once they have lived in a zoo, they cannot go back to the wild. They no longer have the ''what for'' to protect themselves. It is a jungle out there.

Some can't, some have lived so long in the zoo, that they have forgot how to fight for themselves, yeah I feel bad too, but it's either have people come and gawk at you or walk across the wide open spaces and get killed by something, because you can't remember how to fight for yourself.

▼They can't be.
They are to used to be fed.
Or I would agree with you but they would just suffer more in the real world▼
