My son is 7yrs old and he has to go to the bathroom all the time and when he does have to go he holds himself like he's in pain. He keeps saying he's not. He says he just can't make it sometimes. Should I be worried?

I would definitely take him to the doctor. He might have a urinary tract infection or in worse case senario, a kidney infection. I wouldn't delay taking him. Perhaps he is scared to go to the doctor, so he tells you that he is ok. The thing is, the longer you wait (if its a UTI) the worse he could get if he is not seen by a doctor. I hope he gets better.

I have a 7 year old also and he has to go alot too especially when we are shopping or going somewhere without a bathroom but he tries to hold it and looks like he is in pain sometimes too about a year ago he would pee his pants a little and didn't realize he did it because he was playing or busy .boys also have a lot harder time holding it than girls do. I wouldn't worry to much about it but you can always call the pediatrician and ask them.

If he is active I wouldn't worry about it some kids especially boys go through this stage where they are so involved in things. it seems like when they have to go, They really have to go. my son use to seem to have to go lots of times and real bad. He was around 7yrs old at that time. He is thirteen now and realizes when it's time to go and the attention to this is less now.
