I know having your pet real sick and knowing there is nothing you can do for him or her is hard. they are apart of your family. but just remember once she or he is gone, that they are no longer in pain. you will never deal with it, you will always remember them, but the pain will fade, just think of all the good times that you have had with you pet. sorry to hear,

There is a tale that says all pets go to a "Rainbow Bridge" to wait for their owners in the afterlife. It is a beautiful reason to let him go, so he can be free from illness and pain, and to know he will be joyfully waiting or you in the end.

Losing a pet for some IS as traumatic as losing a child, especially long-lived dogs. I have one of my own that is facing the same demise; he will have to be put down after the holidays.

It is a difficult transition. ALLOW yourself to grieve for a few days. You are losing a friend. After a few days, realize that yes, it hurts, but life does go on, and console yourself that you WILL meet with him again.

Please feel free to email me if you want to talk one on one. Having someone to confide it may help you as well.

Best of luck, and you have my deepest sympathies.

I know this feeling i had a pet we had to put down. The pain will stay with you but it will get better each day. But i think you should enjoy what little time you have with your pet. Pet it and love it. Once the pet is gone just you can remember those good times.

i'm sorry your going through this i know how hard it is for people to loose pets. the great thing is though, is that you will be able to keep your dog comfortable and loved and he knows how much you love him. he just wants to know you will be with him when its time for him to go. and he wouldn't want you to be sad forever, because you will get to see him again! i know you are hurting and it doesn't help for people to say everything will be ok because thats not how you feel but all things pass with time and so will your pain. hold him and let him know he won't be forgotten thats all you can really do. i know you will be ok with time.

Sorry to hear about your dog. When I lost my dog my children made me watch the disney movie All Good Dogs Go To Heaven. They called it a feel good movie. It really helped.

I'm curious as to why you choose not to have another pet in your life. I know it can't replace what you've lost (or about to lose) but at least you'd have the companionship once again and it may lesson the ache.
