Hi! There are 2 types of pancreatitis: accute and chronic. It consists of an auto-digestion of the pancreas by its own enzimes. The symptoms include a lot of abdominal pain and fever. The accute type is usually caused by drinking a lot of alcohol in a short period of time and the chronic by some medicines. Sometimes the pancreas necrotize (it dies) and can lead to dead or at least surgery. Hope Im helpful!

Inflammation of the pancreas, most commonly associated with excess alcohol (but not always).

It can be quite serious, and causes a lot of pain. It often comes and goes, often flares up with alcohol use.
