why do you need a man-based religion??

Why would anyone in their sound mind give away money to religious groups? Charity? (Many Non-profits are not religious).

Why not cut the middle man? Who told you your religion (Catholic, Baptist, Jewish, Muslim, whatever) is the right ONE? YOUR PARENTS??

Since your God knows what you're thinking, why would anyone need a priest or a pastor?

Man based religion. If man were to write a Holy Book it certainly wouldn't be the Bible. Do you have any idea what it says? Why would men write that people are going to end up in Hell for eternity? Is that what you would write? I wouldn't. The question should be is the Bible true or not. Lets look and see. The Bible is a codex consisting of 66 books written by 40 different authors spanning 3 Continents over 1,500 years. Yet the message is the same throughout the whole Bible. The Old Testament is God's promise to destroy death. The New Testament is how God does this.

Money is given to help the poor and further the gospel throughout the world so that souls may be saved.

Once you search for truth with all your heart God will always point to his Son, Jesus. "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but by me." - John 14:6

You are correct that God knows what you are thinking and you should tremble. God is holy and we are not. God and sin cannot coexist. Therefore unless you repent of your sins and trust Jesus to save you , then you will perish. Who can stand before God and His Holy angels on Judgment Day? I can't. Therefore I trust Jesus to save me.

Priests and pastors that are already regenerated can help a new born Christian learn God and have questions answered.

I am not the same religion as my parents, nor do I belong to an organized group. I have arrived at the conclusion that my religion is right for me after years of study and reflection.

As for giving money to churches, a very small fraction of that money actually goes to charity. Just give directly to charity or people in need instead!

I do honestly believe in God!! My religion is not "man-based". It is based on The Bible and based on the Trinity.

When you "give away money" to your religion, it's called tithing and it is meant to be a symbol of your thankfulness for what God has done for you. Most people think nothing of giving away their money to casinos. Mine is better spent giving it to my church.

My religion is the right one for me. I feel at home in my church with the other members. We are great friends, actually more like family.

My God does know what I'm thinking, but I don't know necessarily what He is thinking. That's where the Priest comes in. I believe that the Priest is sent by God to teach us God's wishes and desires.

It's a matter of faith and it is really sad that some people don't believe in anything.

Well Bill, don't be too much of a devil's advocate, some things are easier seen in their simplicity. People who don't have time to do good works directly for others... give their money. Of course, that's what we would all like to think of every single person that gives away their money to non-profits. Due to the FALLABILITY of the human soul/mind... some people do it just for political reasons, etc. On the other hand, I really do think that it's better to believe in something (Someone) than to not believe at all... don't you think? Have you looked around you lately.... the world is flooded with selfish, sick-minded, cold-hearted, hateful individuals.... the FACT that God exists helps me get through the day with hope in my heart and peace of mind.

I'm a people-person; I need a faith community to pray with. That same community shares knowledge and resources and supports me when my own faith feels weak. I give money to my church when I am able (I am on a limitted income) because that money goes to helping others. (Yes, I do check into this and make sure that it legally happens.) And whether or not I "need" a priest has nothing to do with God knowing what I'm thinking.

Same reason you need a doctor. Christianity is a cure for the neurobiological sickness of religion, and churches are supposed to be psychological clinics. Christianity was originally a form of psycho-spiritual therapy that employed initiation rites and symbolic ritual, similar to Jungian psychotherapy.

you don't need a priest or pastor if you are secure enough with your beliefs you don't have to go to church and you surely don't need to give your money to god cause he has everything. I'm a believer in God but not the organizations that promote him.

going to Church is a way for God's family to come together and celebrate. Priests and pastors are there to interpret the word of God and relay it to His children on Earth.

As for which religion is "right" that is all a matter of what you believe, and what you have faith in. There is no "right" religion, we each have our own way of praising and thanking God.

A pastor just helps with the study of the Bible, but one is not needed. I am a born again Christian and everyone in my group has their own personal relationship with God. We don't attend church, because we have our own service at our homes. We read the bible, pray and sing songs of praise. This is all we need. Also we witness to people at times.

I agree. I do not like religion and I believe in God. Any religion that claims to be the only way to God is a lie.
