Why do atheists and pagans seem to be involved in some sort of love-fest? Or do atheists think that Paganism is somehow a more correct religion?

Um, we're not...?

>> Or do atheists think that Paganism is somehow a more correct religion?

I don't think any religion is correct. It's all silly superstition caused by a lack of thinking. All I do admire about paganists is that they have never tried to convert me. Not one of them.

I respect all forms of religion. Believe what you want. Pagans have an earth based religion similar but different than native Americans. It is quite beautiful and I never been approached by a Pagan telling me that I burn in some eternal hell if I don't convert to Wicca.

Neo - Paganism and Wicca is a positive religion that teaches you to learn about yourself and the world around you(Science is not considered to be the Devil'sTool) You are responsible for your own actions and you don't get to blame it on the devil, or attribute good things only to "god". It teaches to be tolerant of other faiths (That means not telling others they are wrong and going to hell). It's not gender biased, so you're not counted as extra sinful and inferior if you're female. And freewill is emphasized. "Do as thou wilt and it harm none" is their creed.

I think it's a wonderful religion, even if I don't happen to believe in their gods myself. If there were more religions like this, there'd be a lot less conflict in the world. The monotheists have a lot to learn about love and tolerance from the Pagans.

Actually, I'm both. I celebrate pagan holidays for pagan reasons, but I don't believe in deities. I consider them all metaphors for abstract spiritual concepts.

I think a lot of pagans, like me, only consider deities in the symbolic sense. So atheists and pagans have a lot in common.

I would imagine that it's because the Pagans don't try to tell the Atheists that they're "wrong" not to believe in the Pagan's concept of "God", and we don't proselytize to them to change their evil ways or else.

Pagans generally just go along their spiritual path, and let others do the same.

I would also like to think that Atheists recognize that many/most Pagans have arrived at our beliefs through exploration, questioning, and studying, just as most Atheists have. We've just reached a different conclusion. =)

Paganism or wicca is just as ridiculous a belief as all the other religions. I don't admire pagans. I don't think of them one way or the other.

Pagans tend to be flaky, but at least they're not zealots.

You're right, I do admire them. I think their religion is the closest to the truth - any variety of their religion.

I wish I had been raised that way; I don't regret being an atheist, but it would have spared me a lot of baggage.

Plus from what I've seen out here, they're the most tolerant.

Those of use who are not bogged down with biblical nonsense value those qualities.

Atheists don't admire pagans or any other simibalance of religion and no one admires pagans but that's ok. We pagans are happier that way. When no one cares, no one is in your business and you can do what pleases you.

Perhaps atheists admire us because we believe it is WRONG to force our ideals on others. We are also not bound by dogma--we are instead encouraged to find knowledge, which atheists and Pagans have in common. We don't take offense to statements such as "there are no Gods," because we believe that people are to believe what they wish if it part of who they are.

Both Pagans and atheists try to be true to themselves.

Atheists, pagans, satanists, agnostics, cults that make up ther own scripture or mis-quote scripture are all one in the same and all of them are led by the Devil. If he can convince you that he nor God exists by reasoning and false science, He has you right where he needs to have you, Lost! Remember the Devil is a spin doctor extraordinaire. They worship the self, the creation, science and reason. Genesis 3;6, Romans 1, 1st Timothy 6. Their reasoning is a religion/cult called secular humanism and evolution...See: http://www.raycomfort.com and click link to Dr. Hovind for a $250..000.00 Reward.

They do not have any faith, except for what they find in and of themselves. In other words they are just like Adam and Eve in the Garden and believed the pr that they would become gods.
