I'm looking to donate some of my time. Something like the one campaign, but more hands on. Any ideas?

When i say like the one campaign i mean, something that is on a large scale and is dealing with aids awareness. My issue with the one campaign in that oddly enough they don't want people to fundraise, they want ppl to buy things from them in order to get the money.

It depends on how much time you want to give and where you want to donate your time (and if you have any money to spend on your volunteer work). A close friend of mine is actually currently in Tanzania teaching HIV/aids awareness and has been there for over 11 months now, and found it to be a very fulfilling experience. However, you can also volunteer through the global aids alliance and/or work closer to your own community and still have a great experience.

If you'd like to do something locally, visit the last few links and/or do a search for your area (for example, San Fransico has SFAF: San Fransisco Aids Foundation) to see what you can do to help.

If you're interested in helping abroad or in the country for a 2week+ time frame, visit the first 4 links. You can search for volunteer opportunities based upon area/geography/country and/or what type of work you would like to do: aids awareness, humanities, teaching, working with animals, the arts, etc... you can also choose itineraries from 2 weeks to a few years. You must remember that is it not free to volunteer, every volunteer organization has fees (they provide housing, support, food and classes for their volunteers, etc), so be sure to check these out too- the organizations and/or expeditions can vary widely with costs.
