After I take about four or five shots of Maker's Mark Whiskey (or any liquor, Maker's Mark is my favorite), why do I started gagging?

I don't gag after the first shot, but after several shots, the gagging kicks in.

It gets bad enough to where after five or six shots, I'll gag to the point of almost puking, which is not fun.

What gives?

After about three shots you get something that is called alcohol poisoning. That is what causes the gagging. Although it is different for each person, drinking five or six shots is definitely overdoing it.

that's because the smell is getting to you, what you should do is when taking shots, try not to smell the alcohol or sniff it because the smell will send messages to your neurons and tell them that alcohol is going into your system, making u taste the alcohol more = gag.

chasing helps, but if ur like me and don't like to chase, try holding ur breath and shoot it to the back of ur throat. (thats y it's called a shot) and this will help u in non-gagging. also... if u're a lightweight, that mite also be another reason why u're gagging-- so maybe u should take less shots in a short time period. wait about 10-20 mins before taking another shot, and that way u could take more shots in a given night.

Hi, it's all quite simple the first time you gag, back off and sip the next one all night, excessive gagging of hard boose , down the gullet, is not macho or even Female macho, we don't need to get drunk as a skunk to enjoy the party, we can even enjoy with minimal alcohol or none , so you don't boose like an alco, thats good, enjoy the benefit of lower alcoholic beverage consumption, and beware of the day when you can squig them down with great ease.

Here's the trick. You have to have just a little bit of coke in your mouth before the shot. Shoot the shot with the coke still in your mouth and chase it with more coke. People who talk **** about using chasers are not real whiskey drinkers. If you drink a lot of whiskey, especially good whiskey like Makers or Turkey, without a chaser, it will eat away at your esophagus. Do it like this and you should be fine.

Maybe your body can't take anymore liquor so it's trying to make you stop before you throw up and have a really bad hangover.

*Maybe you shouldn't drink 3+ shots of liqour anyway. Just a tip.

First off alcohol is seen by your body as a poison, so don't drink so fast or you will puke. second try to have something in your stomach before u drink.
