I want to cook dinners for needy people in my area. I want to also make little boxes with essentials (soap, toothpaste, etc.) to hand out with the dinners. Does anyone know a good place to buy the food for the dinners or the soap and things for the boxes? I live in Miami, FL. if that makes a difference. Also if anyone has any ideas of anything else I can give that would help. Basically, I know what I want to do, I'm just having trouble with exactly how to do it.

I live in Florida also. If there's a Sam's Club near you, they sell everything in bulk at a great discount. They have everything, not just food, so you can find the personal items as well as the food items. It may cost you about $30 to sign up with them, but you can make that back in discounts the first time that you shop.
Also, Pace Warehouse is another good bulk shop place. It was the original before Sam's Club came around.
For men: razor, small shaving cream, soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, comb
For women: razor, small shaving cream, soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, hair brush
Extras: in baggies (solids) or empty coke bottles (liquids) laundry powder, dishwashing liquid, toilet paper, deodorant, sanitary products, shampoo
I think what you are doing is great! Even though there are organizations that do this, some people cannot make it there or are embarassed to go. Good luck and have a blessed holiday season!!!!

Depending on how much you are needing..a club store that sells in bulk might be good..or walmart is always an option..but target has the best selection of travel-size items..or you can try a dollar store for ultrabrite toothpaste..it is a hidden gem :)
