I would really like to see the galapagos islands. But I don't want want to spend loads of money just for a 10 day tour. I'd like to live there for minimum a month but longer would be great.

Please let me know if you know of any volunteer companies that offer something like this in the galapagos islands.

Over the summer I spent 2 months volunteering with a program called ELI in Ecuador that places people on the Galapagos islands. You're able to stay as long as you would like (I believe the program fee per day was $10, with a $800 placement fee, excluding airfare). You'll have a host family, all meals, but you're required to pay the $100 national park entrance fee. If you do a search for international internships in Ecuador they'll probably be more organizations that work directly with the Galapagos and might find a better deal. Ecuador is an amazing country, hope you get to see it!

The Galapagos are part of Ecuador, which is a poor country, and most work there is done by locals. But a friend of mine, a Kiwi, has recently been working for a helicopter firm there, snuffing goats, as part of a programme funded by the United Nations to reduce environmental damage there. You could try googling it.
