Has anyone heard the myth that if you put a piece of raw liver at one end of a table and a glass of milk at the other, over a period of time the liver will make its way over to the milk?

Have heard of that but never tried the theory out,it's the type of thing you try after a night out or when you're bored! But no liver isn't a living thing once out of the body but then again...... lol

No it's not alive. it's dead. Dead meat cannot move. Put raw liver at one end of a table and a glass of milk at the other and wait. Eventually the liver will decompose and the milk will go sour, oh, and don't forget the smell.

sounds like a great horror movie. remember the old b&w movie the hand that roamed the country side? this liver could do the same only it will search out only the best dairy cows and consume all thier milk and the farmers will rise up in outrage that some one i stealing all thier milk. And soon the liver will be moving across the countryside as big as a mountain and will destroy cities in its path as it moves from one dairy farm to the next. Please stay tuned for the stomach that loves chicken.

Great question. I will be starring. I am seriously considering the switch (I asked a question yesterday about it). I couldn't before because the only place you could buy meat was the supermarket, which I couldn't even get bones from. The butcher has reopened now (closed due to a fire) and one of the new people at work has a family farm. She has been selling their meat, beef and poultry, to some people from work, so I suspect I could get a lot from her. I do know a few hunters, but not many. Guess it is too late anyway this year. I am still not sure I can get everything I need. The other obstacle is my BF. He doesn't think it is worth it. Our good friend fed raw before and still lost two dogs to cancer, so his opinion is "it doesn't work". Ugh. I am pretty sure I have him convinced now though, he is just tormenting me now. LOL.

No, my friend. But should you fry that liver (which has been soaked in the milk) with lambs kidneys and onions, and present it in a well made gravy, and wash it down with a Chilean red wine, you will have experienced a culinary high point in your life!! Happy Christmas Stan!

No, I've never heard that, but I'd like a BIG OL' DOSE of whatever they were on when they made it up. Once you remove the liver from the animal it ceases to function. If it doesn't function, it is in essence dead.

That is patently untrue. I am a Scandinavian. My liver only crawls toward aquavit, and even then it hauls the rest of my body along with it.

Perhaps the milk is living, and drags it over.

Only if it's attached to a living animal.

It is only a myth,..............but did you ever try it with a glass of whiskey? The whiskey always seems to disappear.
