It is like having a really good friend, that knows everything about you. That friend might recognize when you need help, but would wait for you to ask. We as humans don't always want someone in our business even if we care about them.. But we do appreciate it when we ask and help is given. Point being God stays out of our business until we ask. As for the child molesting priest they will get their just desserts. Psalms 37:9-11!!

God gives people free will and they choose to do atrocious things like child molesting. If good wipe out all the people that do wrong their wouldnt be humans on earth. God knows when you pray without you having to say it out loud.

You can pray different ways, a kind word is a prayer, a kind act is a prayer etc. As for the priests, If they are not punished on this earth, they will be judged and God will punish them. Or they will be judged and be punished both places!

God wants us to pray to him he is the hear of prayer. when we pray we acknowledge that we don't know it all and we need him. If I know of a friend in trouble I appreciate when they come to me and tell me themselves. And as far as the molesting priests, they will be judged.

One of the things that becomes apparent after reading Scripture, both old and new testaments, is the extraordinary respect God has for our free will.
God will not interfere, even when we are determined to harm ourselves. Or harm others.
God will not do for us what we should do for ourselves. If/when we ask for help, once we start doing something, THEN God will intervene. Jesus made the recipients of his miracles demonstrate some act of faith before he acted.
So God won't intervene until we make the commitment in prayer. God won't intervene when we should be taking care of one another.

Regarding your question about God's omniscience and prayer, we could ask the same thing of anyone who communicates to anyone. I want my children to say "thank you" on their own will to exercise their love and appreciation for people who do good for them. Sometime we pray to thank God for things He's done as an exercise of our love--even if He knows we're thankful.
I also make my children apologize for their indiscretions I already know about because the exercise of humility and honesty will build their character. God, I believe, does the same for us.
Regarding your question about God's suspended judgment, please realize that He often lets the natural consequences of their own sins consume their thoughts and lives as a temporal punishment. In the end times there will be a final judgment to deliver permanent punishment for those who rebel against God and what is right. Be glad that God gives us a chance to apologize instead of delivering permanent judgment before we have time to reconsider our sins.

God enjoys our company and when we spend time with Him i.e. prayer! That's why I pray!
And yes, those priests should be wiped out by lightening, but they'll get theirs in the end, and that will be way worse than the lightening! I think their judgement in the final days will SUCK (for them!)

You're being humble and admitting to God things that are on your mind. Of course- He knows it, but He wants to hear it from you. He is your Creator and wants a relationship with you. How can you have a relationship if you don't speak to that person?
A model of prayer I have heard: A.C.T.S
A- Adoration (Let God know how much you adore Him. For who He is- forgiving, loving, giving, merciful, etc. )
C-Confession (Confess your sins. Name each one)
T-Thanks (Thank Him for everything He gives you- your health, beautiful creation, your family, your friends, the ability to open your eyes, living in a free country, etc.)
S- Supplication (Coming before Him with requests on your behalf & on the behalf of others)
If He is to wipe out them for molestation, why shouldn't He wipe out you or me for our sins? In our eyes the sin of molestation & murder are worse to us than those sins of lust, greed, lies, etc. but to God they are all the same. He's a just God. For anyone to approach Him you have to be pure & blameless. That's the reason for Christ death on the cross.
And one day, they & also you, I & all people will be judged according to whether we've accepted Christ as our Savior & {Christians} will be judged according to their works.

furthermore, if god has a plan and knows everything that will happen before it happens, doesn't that take away the need to pray? meanwhile, prayer is as effective as a magic horseshoe. statistically speaking, so either god is doing what he wants in spite of prayer, or god doesn't exist and prayer is superstitious... either way, it's a waste of time.
