Exactly a year ago she had surgery for breast cancer, so around Christmas last year she felt really bad and wasn't in the holiday spirit. This year she's determined to make it a great Christmas and I want to get her something really special. Keep in mind, there's only a week till Christmas, so I need something I can get (OR make) fast. Any ideas?

Lucky charms will be the best choice for you. Your mom will understand all your best wishes to her. Dongba fish wall hanging represents for healthy, in China, the sick people will go to temples to touch the large wooden carved fish, praying for soon recovery. And the silver bracelet with peony flowers stands for happy life, the one with Chinese character "longevity" is the best gift for our seniorities. The flowers and birds papper cuts are the symbol of peace and happiness. Find them out at the following website:

A gift certificate for you - maybe ten one hour certificates that she can redeem whenever she wants - to do something special with you, or have you just do something around the house. You have to be ready to honor those, even if it's not always convenient or you don't feel like it.

But the gift of time and the gift of yourself? Can't be beat.

Dear Mom - XX years ago you gave me life. And in the past year we have all come to realize how precious life is. Here's a small token of how precious I think you are.

A bracelet made out of your favorite beautiful colored beads. Maybe even have a heart shaped bead put in the middle. This seems very special. Make a nice Christmas card and give her a big hug. If this isn't available, then buy perfume or bath soap or something nice smelling. If you have extra money or time, buy a bouquet of flowers.

When I was a child, I remember my mama liked bottled (back when they were glass) Coca Cola and peanuts. As an "extra" gift one year, I bought her some bottled cokes and peanuts. Haven't seen any glass bottled ones since. Is there something special like that you remember about your mom from your childhood?

And as I always say when I answer this question... Moms deserve to be pampered... bath products, candles, gift certificate for a manicure, pedicure, hair service, or massage.

oh and congratulations to her on her recovery.
She has already received a special gift.

Something for her to pamper herself. Maybe some bath salts, bubble bath, ect. Find a day spa in your area and give her a gift certificate to the place. Maybe make it a mother/daughter day and go with her and just enjoy each others company. Also, if you have pictures of you and her when you were younger until current, make a scrapbook out of them.

A year's subscription to her favorite magazine/newspaper.
A wonderful book from a breast cancer survivor or one that will lift her spirits.
A gift from Hallmark.

My mom is a breast cancer survivor - 16 years ago last May.
Prayers to you and your mom!

Ya know....I had to think about my moms presents too, only it was for her birthday. I couldnt think of anything, and then it hit me!

I would show her how much she means to me! I decided to make her a scrapbook of pictures of her, myself , and on occasion my father. I inserted some pretty adormnents, and quotes with a few captions for the pictures. Indicating in each one how special she is to me. She looked through it, and as she got further, she broke into tears. She told me it was one of the few meaningful things anybody has ever given her.

The book went from her being a child (showing her mom and dad) and how they cared for her. To when she met my father, and how much she meant to him. The onto when she had me, and how much she means to me.

Hope that helps out a bit.

Good luck, and your mom will love anything you get her. Shes your mom. = )

Go to Wal-Mart in the Jewelry Dept. They have this tree that has little hearts hanging from the branches. The hearts are little picture frames. Find pictures of yourself and your family and put them in the frames. I know your Mother will love it and it isn't that expensive and yet it is very personal.

Make her a lovely card with your own hands. Then make a coupon to insert in the card that entitles her to:

one free massage, grocery shopping, laundry, house cleaning, wash car (something that you will do for her)
