This is one of the simplest appetizers. The ingredients will usually always be on hand and you can make this at the last minute for any occasion. The presentation is spectacular! Use a martini glass for the cocktail sauce.
Frozen cooked, cleaned, shrimp with tails-on, thawed (61 to 70 count)
Crushed Ice

lemon wedges for garnish
Place cocktail sauce in a martini glass. Place glass on a flat, large attractive platter. Cover the platter completely with crushed ice. Place the thawed shrimp atop the ice and serve. (Place a small dish close by for guests to deposit the tails).
COCKTAIL SAUCE
1/2 cup Chili Sauce or Catsup
2 Tablespoons Cream Style Horseradish grated horseradish root
1/4 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon Kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
4 drops Tabasco
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
2 garlic cloves, minced
Combine all ingredients in a bowl according to taste and blend well. Adjust seasoning, if necessary. Cover and refrigerate sauce overnight to develop the flavors. Yield: 2/3 cup

Boiled shrimp are great but a bit expensive but you cannot beat shrimp in cocktail sauce or prepared any other way for that matter. Add a nice assortment of cheese and crackers and also raw veggies with a variety of dips. All this goes well.

I would go with a cold cut meat tray with cheese and crackers. That is a classic that anyone can enjoy. Don't just get Kraft singles and bologna either. I would suggest Boarshead, or go to your grocery store they should have some assorted platters that you can use.
