My 57 year-old Aunt experienced a CVA (cerebrovascular accident or stroke). HEr symptoms which include motor deficiencies in her right arm and leg, were corrected by a technique that involved catherization and removal of an embolus from the left middle cerebral artery. Her doctor used no X-Rays or MRIs, so how did he know to look for the clot in this precise location?

I know he's a doctor.. but clots happen everywhere.. not every person is the same... I'm a nursing student so i should know that.. but this just doesn't make sense..

Maybe it's true that the left side of the brain controls the right side of the body, and that's how he knew. Barring that, maybe he's the Amazing Kreskin....

The only thing I could guess is that i appears her motor failings showed up in specific places. It is possible that he knew which part of the brain controlled those areas and immediately went to looking there with the camera they generally have on the catherization tool. Basically localize the area and then search that small area rather than the whole brain (or any other part of the body).

With the catheterization the doctor had a cameras to view the inside of the arteries on a TV screen, it is with this he found the blockage.

Experience!

He probably has treated this in so many cases that he can do it blindfolded and knew exactly where to look...

Certain areas blocked, affect certain areas and motor functions... Any good Cardio-vascular Doctor could have done this, but, be thankful that "your" Doctor knew right away where to operate so that your Aunt can have a good recovery....

May the LORD speed her recovery soon...

I wish you well..

left brain controls right side of body. There are a limited number of arterial paths.

Doctors study symptoms and signs. If he wasn't the best then he wouldn't be where he is at now. I wouldn't ask why or how I would just be grateful he found it.
