Hi, Mousse tends to make your hair crispy which isn't always very attractive. I recommend Aveda Be Curly. Its one of the best selling products in the salon I work in, its £14 but lasts for years.
It is a lotion rather than a mousse and amazingly eliminates frizz, enhances curl and holds. A quick sparkle of hairspray, (without overdoing it,) will hold in place.

You don't say whether or not your hair is permed and what type rollers you are using . But, I find if you use mousse before drying your hair, alot of mousse ( I like Tres sume "Curl Care") Then squeeze out the excess using a towel. Dry with a diffuserif your hair is permed. Then lightly coat each section with gel before you roll it. Hope it helps. Aussie makes a great hairspray you might want to finish with, "Sprunch spray" Good luck!

I LOVE using I.C.E. gel (silver bottle) -can get it at BeautyBrands. I put it on my hair when it is wet and scrunch it. Then I flip my head over or to the side and dry my hair with a diffuser on my hairdryer. This really works!! The gel gives definition to my hair and once my hair is dry, it's not hard (only when it is wet with the gel in it). The gel isn't too firm and doesn't make your hair crunchy--only with tons of hairspray does it make my hair hard and crunchy. Well, best of luck to you!! Curls are so lovely and millions would kill for your hair:) mine is wavy but becomes very curly with a diffuser (haha most think my hair is curly until after I get out the pool)

Mouse is probably the best thing to use...try a brand like Garnier Fructis. But, if you have thing hair like mine, it might get hard. If so, you can try a holding gel. Herbal Essence has a curling cream too which works.

I use mousse because gel will make it sticky. Put on an anti-frizz serum first and them apply mousse

I use a very little bit of hair spray. I spray the strands I am about to curl. It works for me everytime and my hair is thick and to my belt loops.

You can use gel or mouse. the secret is not to comb it while its wet. If you do comb it, scrunch afterwards. If you comb it when its dry, wet it again and scrunch it.
I only have naturally wavy hair, but I can make it look quite curly by this method.
