If you want to search for single words or for word stems, these two online dictionaries are not bad:

Perseus, http://www.perseus.tufts.edu/cgi-bin/resolveform?lang=la

Latin dictionary and grammar aid, http://archives.nd.edu/latgramm.htm

Smith&Hall English-Latin dictionary - excellent, but you have to download some software: http://www.grexlat.com/biblio/smith/

Some other links, which I haven't researched very thoroughly:

http://humanum.arts.cuhk.edu.hk/Lexis/Latin/search-f.html

http://www.archives.nd.edu/cgi-bin/words.exe

There are none, and not just for Latin/English. I have not seen a one that does even a fair job of translation. Occasionally, they'll get a word right here or there, but mess up enough others to confuse the issue. As for syntax and context, no hope.

ADDED: AskAsk has given some very good links. Both the one from Tufts (perseus) and the one from Notre Dame (nd) are excellent. But remember: Latin is a HIGHLY inflected language - the endings of words change the meanings. You can NOT do a word-for-word translation with any hope of success unless you already have a good concept of the declensions and conjugations of Latin.

hi, i could suggestions you to no longer you any of them, except you have already a physically powerful know-how of the language to which your translate. I even have considered multiple such translation in Yahoo!solutions and it works badly. you additionally could make a small attempt. Took a internet web site in English, translate it in french and retranslate it in english, you have got some relaxing. Assuming which you're an english community speaker, to apply it from french to english could be wonderful, you will see each and all of the nonsense. yet once you do it in any incorrect way, you're exposing you to severe errors. Regards, Emmanuel
