Does your Reputation get bad after you have tattoos? I am a very uptight lady. Now that I have tattoos, I worry that people will think I am dumb and not like me. What to do?

I wouldn't worry so much what people think. Actually, if someone thinks any differently of you cuz you got a little ink, then it's better that you know their true colors. I have 15 tats and don't notice a difference in the way people treat me compared to how I was treated before I got tats. I was 25 when I got my first tattoo, so I remember very well, being that I'm 32 now.

And I have a 'normal' job, wear short sleeves in the summer and my boss only cares about the quality of my work, not the tats on my arms.

Why should you care what people think about you? A tattoo is just a way of expressing yourself. I've had my tattoo for over three years now and I barely notice it because it's a part of me. Neither does anyone else. Every once in a blue moon someone will see it and say, "Oh, when did you get a tattoo?" Don't worry about it. If someone is lame enough to judge you by a tattoo, you don't want to be friends with them anyway.

Yes, as females our reputation get shot all to heck after having a tattoo...plus we start drinking Jack and riding around on motorcycles while being trampy and sleeping with every Tom, Dick and Harry who crosses our path.
...or at least that's what some very narrow minded people would have you believe. The truth is that if you're inclined to do those things, you'll do them with or without a tattoo. Body art and modifications or their placements have no bearing on you as person or your personality. Some people like them, some don't. Just because some one has tattoos it doesn't make them any worse a person than someone who doesn't.
I'm just fed up of the negative comments. If your opinion about tattoos is to never have one and you hate them, then why are you answering questions in this section? That in itself says more about you as a person, than me having a tattoo says about me.

It shouldn't matter what other people think. It is your body, and it's not like you are going around swearing, getting kicked out of bars, sleeping around etc etc. People who judge people just by how they look are the stupid ones. They miss out on great opportunities to meet new and interesting people, and to learn more about others.
Don't worry about what other people think. Because the ones that actually matter, the ones that you care about, are the ones who know who you are and how you act, and are the ones supporting you.
Everyone has their own opinions on everything. The decision to get a tattoo was yours, if they don't like it, then too bad.

Tattoos won't have any affect on your reputation...you make a reputation for yourself by your actions, not the ink on your skin. However...some people see a person with tattoos and immediately judge or label them in a negative way.

Why would it? If anyone didn't like me because I have tattoos, I wouldn't care anyways. They aren't worth my time.
I have a few strategically located tattoos, and I doubt anyone whos knows about them thinks less of me. It's a personal decision.
If you are a "very uptight lady" and are that concerned about people thinking you are "dumb" then you probably shouldn't have gotten tattoos.

If you are so uptight, why did you get tattoos in the first place? If you worry people will think you are dumb, then they WILL think you are dumb...but if you put out positive vibes, you will get them back.

I do not think that all of a sudden ppl will think you changed but it does help a little for a rep to change with a tattoo. Think back a couple years ago when you didn't have a tattoo. What did you think about those ppl. That's all you have to think about. Don't listen to anybody else's opinion but yours. Hope you enjoy your new tattoo.

I have 7 tattoos and am a Business Manager and make a very good salary. The tattoo doesn't determine who you are, your actions and the way you carry yourself determines how people treat you.

you are not dumb for getting a tattoo. a tattoo is personal expression and if that is the way you have chosen to express yourself then so be it. you should not worry what others will say especially if you are happy with your tattoo. i love mine and am getting ready to get another. and obviously you are not that uptight if you went and got one. way to go and good luck with your next one cause they are addicting lol. happy holidays=)
