Glace icing would not work as its consistency would be too thin to adhere to it.Rollout icing can be put on without marzipan but it would best to be done the night before as to prevent any 'bleeding'. best way would be to roll out to about quarter of an ich but no thinner. use the tin that it was cooked in to use like a cookie cutter and put the cut out on top. this can be left as it and then put some decorations on top or roll out a long piece the height of the cake , cut along the top to give a clean edge and apply to sides. Plain apricot jam makes the best 'glue'

Sorry no , but you can buy roll out icing which is easy to use but you will have to marzipan the cake first and before that you need to bush the cake with melted apricot jam, Ice the cake as soon as possible.

Glaze icing is not the preferred icing for fruitcake but marzipan (almond paste).
However, each one can make his or her own variation. Glaze will become runny after a few days.
