My grandmother is very old and in good health for her age but has dementia. My parents finally put her in a home last year. Seems every couple of months my grandmother is in the hospital at deaths door then has a remarkable recovery. I don't mean to sound cold, I love my grandmother, but she is not above playing some very nasty mind games even at her age (in her 90's). My parents are in poor health too and I see the toll that this is taking on my dad and it scares me. I don't think he can take much more and he won't accept my help. Any suggestions on how to make things easier for my parents?

This might not sound like enough....but the best thing you can offer your parents is love and understanding. They are trying their best with their grandmother, and it will help them immensely if they know that you are okay...and that they don't need to worry about you too. Also, ask them if there is anything you can do. Showing them that you care, and want to help...it will make all the difference. Good luck...and God bless.

Sounds like the best thing you can do is just be there for them when they need help - cleaning, shopping, cooking....

That's what my husband and I do for my grandmother and for my parents when they need help. Just spending time helps too.

Your gran could be frail and ill, or she could be lonely and needing some TLC. You can assist by visiting her every now and then, buying her things that she likes, and just spending time with her. Grandparents are gems.
