There may be a few problems at first, but we would recover. People are already applying for jobs at the Swift factories since all the illegal immigrants were arrested. Wages would rise, and maybe the price of produce too. But it wouldn't be the crisis that some people try to make it out to be. It would be manageable. I don't think one of the wealthiest, most powerful countries in the world would fall apart because we deport illegal immigrants.

Better on both counts. The line that no one would pick crops or clean hotels is total BS. The nicer hotels (and cleaner) that I have stayed in did not have illegal immigrant workers I don't think. Crops have been picked by people even when illegal immigration was not at the rate it is now. Farmers may have to pay a little more for the work and maybe give medical insurance( which would mean better health care for everyone) but the work would still get done. The hatred that people on this site make reference to would get smaller (I don't think that hatred is racial but rather frustration by people who are tired of working their butts off to pay for people who have done nothing to earn it) and our streets safer. If you don't believe that the crime rate among illegals is higher than among citizens and legal immigrants just look up the facts.

Mass migration proponents extol the virtues of immigrants and illegal aliens with glowing characterizations such as "hardworking."
Immigration glorification needs a reality check! There are plenty of lazy immigrants and illegal aliens. Our jails are over-flowing with immigrants and illegal aliens. Lower their glorification to the reality that foreign-born persons are neither inherently good nor inherently bad. Making generalizations is generally inaccurate and the issue is mass numbers.

Economic Benefits. Cheap labor advocates are prone to say something like lettuce will cost $10 a head without migrant labor.
Cheap labor benefits only a few and only over the short-run. The wealthy benefit by cheap labor but the middle and especially lower class suffer by having fewer and lower paying jobs. Taxpayers have to pay for the infrastructure costs or face declining quality of services. Competitors suffer too.
Victimization. In order to justify rewards, illegal alien advocates portray illegal aliens as victims instead of law breakers. For example, many illegal alien 'rights' groups want an amnesty because the illegal aliens have worked hard and are just trying to improve their lot. But at what costs? They do not want to assimulat into America, they only wish the USA to become a bigger ,better Mexico ,or whatever country they ran away from..
The lie that is pushed by people that the USA would collaspe without the illegals,is just that, a big over told lie.No matter how many times its told that still doesnt make it true. The USA survived before the illegal aliens and we certainly will survive without them.

For a fact, America will not be irreperably damaged, socially or financially. Those who claim America will collapse without illegal labor are lying. America has plenty of LEGAL hispanic citizens to keep the culture from dissappearing.
America has plenty of hard working citizens who will take up the slack left by the illegals. America will be just fine if the illegals are taken away, dont you worry about old miss liberty, she knows how to dance.

There will be a short term problem. Cheap labor will be gone. Unemployment will be nothing. Some prices will go up. It would be a good idea when the immigration laws are enforced that there are tax cuts, preferably the Fair Tax.

Part of the enforcement must be some way to have temporary workers, especially for farm workers.

We cannot allow the illegal problem to continue.

americans can't afford an america with drastically lower immigration rates. as we progress more and more to a service economy with college graduation rates rising rapidly, there are vast numbers of jobs that most americans not only don't want, but aren't trained to do. for example, if you spend 7 years in college getting a masters degree, chances are you're not going to become a plumber.

economic impacts would be spotty. in large immigration centers like los angeles, houston, and washington dc, the local economies would be a mess for a lot more than just the short term.

socially, america may look at itself favorably, but i believe it would lower our status considerably on the world stage. if we continue to isolate ourselves through dangerous, knee-jerk actions, we'll have major issues in the coming years.

We will be just fine, if not better, keep in mind that we did not just make up these jobs to give illegal immigrants work, hard working Americans did these jobs in the past .

America was here before the illegals and it will be here after they leave. My only hope is that the door hits them on the way out.

With the reduction of what some say are 30,000,000 people, wages should go hire, less in the work force and the people that hire illegals would have to pay higher wages to get the work done!
