The Very Hungry Caterpillar Book, when i was a preschooler, and then when i was older Where the Red Fern Grows, and The little Prince is an absolutely beautiful story that even I can still enjoy it in my mid 20"s..very heartfelt..

My step dad always came up with weird stories when we were kids. There are a few we will never forget like "Corn Cobber" and "Bony Arm" (too long to explain here:). There is one that we still talk about. He called it the "Hatchett Bunny". I guess my mom and him were tired of us coming in their room and possibly interrupting something (eww) so he told us there was a bunny called the "Hatchett Bunny" that would hack off any body part that hung over the bed. Ok I know that sounds morbid and scary but we were older and actually found it funny. Even though we knew there was so no such thing as the "Hatchett Bunny" we still couldnt sleep with anything hanging over the bed (and we are now in our 30's and late 20's and we still cant sleep with anything hanging over the bed).

i like the ones that they made by themselves. it always keeps me guessing about the ending and for sure there is a moral story on it.
so with my kids i also do it. make stories that has their names as the characters. sometimes, i make them decide what they want as endings.
your question is really nice.
