I have 4 parrots they are all very smart. Even the 2 that are just learning to talk.
My yellow nape will correct other birds. She tells them "No,No,No don't bite your momma" She calls the other parrots "Nasty birds" when they make a mess. She calls my son if she feels threatened "Bubba hey bubba" If she sees something interesting she will say "oh my god look at that" Those are just a few examples
Goffin cockatoo rides motorcycle with hubby and when hubby stops he will go down my hubby's arm and look in mirror to make sure his feathers look good. :) He talks good too.
African grey timneh is just learning to talk. But quick learning.
Quaker is just learning to talk also and can say several things just like the african grey. I can't wait until they "open up" :)

Well, I have a 22 yr old cockatiel, Sunshine, who frames other birds. She knows right from wrong, like climbing curtains is wrong. So I have observed her climbing 1/2 way up calling to the other birds, when they pass her on the way up she climbs down...then screams for me like she is hurt...when I enter the room, she looks at me and then looks at them...and waits for me to put 2 and 2 together.... she tries this a lot, all because once I punished the others and locked them back up for climbing...so she got all the attention...you can't trust that one...she plots! She is also toilet trained...believe it or not!

I also have a 13yr old tiel that can open and close the door so she can come out, but the others remain locked inside.

They also recognize different people's cars approaching the house, they only chirp and get excited when my husband's truck, pulls up, or when my father visits... any other vehicles, they don't make a sound.

For tiels...they are pretty smart, they even know when you are making popcorn, by the ding of the microwave.

They may be small, but they know who they can trust, which dogs, which people. They always seem to be able to sense the "bird" people. They go right to them.

They also have managed to map out the house and they climb stairs when I am up in the office...20+ stairs is quite a trip for a little bird who has its wings clipped!

I can't imagine trying to handle more than what they dish out!

He is very smart. Knows the alphabet and can recite quotes from movies. Pirates Of the Carribbean is his favorite movie and he just loves talking in a British accent. Parrots are one of the smartest animals on earth, but a huge responsibility. They are wonderful pets! They can amaze you with what they remember.

All four of mine are really smart. You are trying to compare them with human traits though which no parrot should have to live up to. It's like buying a parrot because it talks....too many people do this. Most parrots are incredibly smart. You're trying to see which ones are most trainable or mimicing of human traits.

My 'tiel teases my dogs. He screams so they'll come in my room and then go to the front of his cage so they can see him, but they can't get him.

He hasn't learned to talk yet but that's because he's just a baby--11 months.
