I have a question about menstruation in relation to pregancy.?

Question

My girlfriend slept with someone else the week after she finished menstruating, claiming they used protection. I slept with her a week before she was to start menstruating again, and did not use protection. She claims the child is mine and she missed her period which told her she was pregnant and a test confirmed it.

My question is how soon should I get a paternity test and what is the likelihood of the other guy being the father vs me?

Thanks for your responses. The question I still have is how soon can you get a paternity test? I really don't want to spend 9 months suppoting my gf and preparing to have my own child only to find out it's not.

in a situation like the one you described, you should get a paternity test. and she should not fault you for it. and if she does, you dont need her anyway. get the test, or let it bother you for the rest of your life. i hope it turns out the way you want it too. i know , i have 4 daughters, and KNOW they are mine. i was married, and yet since i was deployed alot, i had the tests done. she was pissed at first, but now she says she understood. since she has already said that she was sleeping with someone else then you SHOULD get the test.

as soon as the baby is born, you can have it done.

All you have is really what she told you. She could have missed her period later. She could have not used protection and she is probably not sure how the father is. She doesnt seem to be a honest person. The only way to 100% confirm that you are the father is getting a paternity test. And that you can do as soon as the baby is born.
The sooner you do it the better because not know can cause you financial and emotional stress
