most common side effect from one cigarette is coughing, followed by wanting to smoke again. one cigarette can hardly damage your health on the long run (unless you are allergic to it).
cigarettes are highly addictive, if you already smoke one cigarette, you have a higher chance of smoking regularly. you already were brave enough to smoke, please be brave enough not to smoke another one. if you need help into not smoking, do some work with persons copd. http://www.lungusa.org/site/apps/kb/zip/zip.asp?c=dvLUK9O0E&b=37083
smoking sure decreases your quality of life as you get older. So, there sure is a side effect> the addiction.
take care

No side effects will happen with just one cigarette, except your breathe, hair and clothes will smell. And if you think it might make you "look" cool, it won't.
You'll just be picking up a bad habit which is very hard to quit. Then you should consider the health risk.

That's how expensive addictions start. With the first one. Why bother? Not only is cigarette smoking expensive, in NYC seven dollars a pack, but also it quietly destroys the body. You never notice it at first, but 25 years later, you feel the damage when blood clots start forming in your legs and lungs.

Most likely, you will not notice any long-term complications after just one cigarrette. You may have a slight cough, bad breath, smelly fingers etc. for a little while.

The body can just about over come everything with small quantity.
I think you can have one a day with no side effect.
The problem is that it is easy to jump to 5,10 then a pack a day. That is bad.

Each cigarette you consume each day, you lose seven minutes of your life. You might get a craving for another one, probably.
