Dogs like to chew things.

It could be that you live in a gingerbread house and your dog likes the taste of sweets...as for chewing on his own paws, he may be a bit of a drug user, in which case he probably thinks his paws are massive candy bars.

Either way, you don't have to worry about it. Your dog sounds like a pretty dope pet. Want to sell him?

Well if you said puppy simply because he is teething. But because you said dog I would say he is trying to find something to do. Or he likes to chew there are some dogs that just have a habit for teething. We broke my dog out of that habit. His paws that could be because he is itching or trying to chew his nails down to a good level they will do that so they can walk if their nails are too long they can't walk. I hope this helps. If nothing helps call a vet and that is free. Dogs don't like lemons put lemon juice on things you don't want to be nibbled and it will stop it in those places.

Your dog may possibly be teething, if it is a puppy, that is. Boredom also drive many dogs to chew things for the heck of it. As for it's paws, it may be boredom, an itch, or something that feels good. I would get your dog a chew toy. Better, is to fill a kong toy or hollow bone (A big one it cannot choke on) with peanut butter or something that your dog will enjoy. This is to keep him busy.

Skin allergies. My dog chews on his feet too. You can try benadryl one capsule twice a day, that's what my vet recommended but it makes him a zombie, so I don't do it. And the omega-3 fatty acids haven't done much either. The benadryl will help if you can stand the excessive sleeping until they get used to it.

This is a sign of allergies normally,,,, there is not a lot you can do unless you want to have it allergy tested (like a human). If you can monitor when your dog does this you may be able to figure out what it is allergic to.

(S)He may have been taken away from his/her mother too soon. This tends to give them a bit of an oral fixation that manifests in a strong urge to nibble (suckle) everything they can.
