Do I get it right out of training or do I have to purchase it? Will it Come later or what just want to know. Because I see that there is dress 'A' 'C' 'D' ect. But I didn't see any recruits with it on right out of basic. I wanted to know if I get the blouse like the guys in the commerical(s) or what. Or Am I never going to get it and just be stuck in 'greens'

My husband is a fellow Marine. You have to purchase them. Very expensive!

You have the option to buy your Dress Blues while in recruit training in the 3rd phase. Recruits will either graduate in Alphas, Bravos, or Charlies (during summer months) but only the guide will graduate in Dress Blues. You should get your Dress Blues tailored and done by Vistitors Thursday (day before graduation) and can wear them after you graduated. The 'greens' dont look bad either.

If you got three referrals while in the DEP the Marine Corps is gonna pay for them, otherwise the bill is on you.

You will not be wearing them on Graduation Day unless you are the Honor Man.

Put your heart into; you can do it...

Ask your recruiter, he'll tell you how to get three referrals or how to be the Honor Man.

You have to buy them yourself. They are about $125 for the jacket plus alterations, buttons, and getting your patches sewn on. The jackets are sold with the buttons on it but they are a cheap version that don't shine very well. After all the jacket, alterations, buttons, patches, ect. it cost my husband about $250-$275 for his jacket. They also sell them at military shops around base. You can sometimes get a better deal with them, but don't buy during MC ball time. Oh, I think that the top couple of guys in bootcamp get their blues for free.

You have to buy them. I bought mine on base simply because the alterations were free and they are not as expensive as they would be offbase. You only get so many uniforms for free.....the rest you have to buy as well as your rank, hash marks and blood stripe when necessary.

Actually recruits are issued Blue's out of boot camp since 1994, at least.
