Well said David. You don't judge a perfect God by the imperfect followers. I think there is a missconception on the part of unbelievers that when you become a christian you no longer sin. Oh the christians can have the MOST insidious sins of all! And they add to it by hiding it for fear of ridicule. A person who preaches you should not commit adultry, for example, from a pulpit and then goes on to have an ellicite affair is committing a far more insidious and sneaky sin than an open unbeliever saying, "Ya I committed adultry, I know I did and I regret it".
That being said, I hope non christians also know that there are also a lot of loving christians out there that recognize this and don't try to put on a false front. We are all works in progress down here. The difference I see between christians and non christians is that we have a resource that non christians don't have. That is the Holy Spirit. He gives us strength in our ability to steer clear of sin and convicts us when we do wrong. I don't get away with anything as a christian. God can use a negative thing like guilt to convict me that I did wrong and want to change it. So He uses a bad thing for a good purpose. And that's not even to say that a non christian doesn't have the Holy Spirit available to him. He does if some day he BECOMES a christian. SO I'm no better than any non christian. Just better equipped and a far better destination when I die.

Religion is whatever a people want it to be. It's all fairly arbitrary, anyway. Don't try to boil it down to such a science. As an engineer I can tell you that it definitely isn't. If you don't like something, then don't follow it. The only reason you follow any part of it in the first place is by choice. The point is to live a good life, not to punish people for being different. As you grow up you will hopefully realize how silly a lot of people make their religions, turning them into reasons to criticize and hate others. Morality isn't defined by what anyone or anything has said. Any person knows what is right or wrong as is. Ideally, people would live good lives for the satisfaction of it and religion as we know it will be left in the past.

I dont find the bible or koran to be perfect. There good and bad people in every group. So that wouldn't stop me. One of the people i respect the most is a former Marine with a doctors in Christian theology. This guy does so much good for others its unbelievable. He is like mother terease in a form of a tank. Still even he cant convince me of God. Even thou he is more then capable of putting up a great argument.

Does the fact that some atheists are kind of A-holes make you not want to be an atheist? Because it shouldn't and you should consider Atheism as a logical choice.
I don't believe in god because the idea of the Christian god (all powerful and all good) proves itself wrong. I don't even have to do any work.

Actually, NONE of those who follow God are perfect.
We just have the perfection of Jesus Christ as a gift to cover our sins.
Don't expect perfection of any of us here on earth. We who love the Lord God are perfected when we leave this earth.
1 Peter 1:3-7
3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade-kept in heaven for you, 5 who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. 6 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. 7 These have come so that your faith-of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire-may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.

No, I rejected God because I am capable of making my own decisions.
Being told that I was going to hell for playing Pokemon didn't help much either, but that was more of my reason to reject the little girl who told me that.

no, just your definition of G-d.
mine is much Grander and doesn't "care" what religion you subscribe to, or even whether or not you believe in G-d at all.
I don't think of God as a "who". God is the "I am" the Eternal Process. the Supreme, being. not a him or a king or anything our egos like to humanize.
i prayed for your spiritual eyes and your heart as well.

I don't reject G-d. I reject the Bible. A series of books altered by man to reflect the fears of one important person (King James) is not a set of holy scriptures.

People are not perfect, only God and Jesus are. If that weren't the case, we'd have a new religion springing up about every 20 years.

God proves himself and the Bible was made by God and given to men.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
That's John 1:1
