Most definately yes!!!! In most states it is illegal to buy, sell, adopt or give away any puppy before it has completed it's 7th week and in some states it is 8 weeks.

No responsible breeder would ever let a puppy go to it's new home before it was 8 weeks old and many not under the age of 10 weeks.

Before going to new homes they need a vet exam and their first vacciantion (vaccination should NOT be done under 7 weeks preferably 8 weeks since it interfers with natural immunity and can cause future vaccination issues) and deworming (which should be done at 2, 4, 6, & 8 weeks of age).

Depends-do you want a neurotic puppy? Leave the dog with mom and the litter as long as you can. They learn so much from the family group. His mom will teach him more about being a dog and you will get a little extra time to prepare for a puppy. Yes-you miss out on cute tiny pup. But at 10-12 weeks pup comes home ready to start house training and more well adjusted. It is so worth it. Put a deposit on the pup if needed to hold it.

A Puppy should not leave it's mother and litter until it is a minimum of 8 weeks old. Puppies need this for socialization.

Yes. Vets recommend at least 7 weeks, but preferably eight. I have had my new puppy one week and she was brought home at six weeks. Her mother had refused to feed her after giving birth and all of her littermates died. She was bottle fed by the owner and later adopted by another dog who gave birth. The mother needed surgery and the owner could not care for both dogs properly, so I brought her home.

The problem with early seperation? She has issues with aggression that are more pronounced. Weaning is not really the factor in waiting. Thay can be weaned as early as five weeks. Puppies need the socialization with their littermates to learn what type of play is acceptable and how "social ranking" works. If they don't receive this, it makes it very difficult to teach a dog their role in your family. They perceive themselves as being "alpha" and will resist obedience training.

Yes, a puppy should remain with mom and the litter mates until at least 8 weeks, even if already weaned as they learn a lot from mom until that time.

Yes, that is TOO YOUNG to take a pup from the mother. Any breeder that allows this is a back yard breeder and you should RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN away from the idea of buying a puppy!
